Cards Against Humanity is a party game for horrible people.

Unlike most of the party games you’ve played before, Cards Against Humanity is as despicable and awkward as you and your friends.

The game is simple. Each round, one player asks a question from a Black Card, and everyone else answers with their funniest White Card.

And it is distributed under a Creative Commons license, meaning it is not only free to play, but remixing, and changing the game are more than just encouraged.

The official hard copy has been sold out for a while now, but a PDF of all the cards, and instructions distributed by the creators for making your own deck can be found here.

Character Development: Benji

1.) Describe your character’s relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no?
Benji and his father are really similar—content to blend into the background and not be the center of attention, to be “supporting characters”, and to do what needs to be done. So they get on quite well, because they understand each other, except when Benji tries to be defeatist and give up on his dreams, because Robert knows exactly what he’s doing.
His mother, on the other hand…hahaha, well, Angela is a pusher. She wants Benji to be the best he can be and fully believes in her son, so she doesn’t let him settle for the E. When he’s having a bad day he wants to shout at her that no, that is the best he can do, but they’d both know that wasn’t true. Also, she embarrasses him sometimes. But they’ve gotten on pretty well always and still do. (PS: Angela is totally the “scary parent”)
2.) What are your characters most prominent physical features?
Oh, totally his smile. Benji has approximately six million teeth, and when he smiles you can see all of them. Other than that, I suppose his looks altogether count? Though he’d say he was average, that Abercrombie-model/boy-next-door thing he’s got going on has netted him three admirers so far, so…Here’s hoping it works on the girl of his dreams ;)
3.) Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason?
Though you can’t see it, if he shaved his head (lol let’s not) he’d have a scar directly on the top of it from where some books fell off a high shelf onto him when he was ten. You can sort of feel a little dent if you’re randomly massaging his head/looking for it.
4.) How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive?
He’s really not vain, and he’d say he was average looking. Unless it’s a special event, he just grabs the first thing in his closet (yeah, he at least puts his clothes away), looks in the mirror real quick to make sure it doesn’t look terrible, musses up his hair with a little product, and away he goes.
5.) What’s your character’s ranking on the KINSEY SCALE?
0, totally heterosexual.
6.) Describe your character’s happiest memory.
It’s totally cheesy and cliche, but in second year, when Kat told Scarlett to back off from bullying him and he fell in love with her. It will be when Kat says she’ll go out with him, though.
7.) Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?
When he’s having a bad day, he’d say the above, but he wouldn’t mean it, not really. When he’s not having a bad day, he’d say he hasn’t done anything interesting enough to regret.
8.) Day of Favorites! What’s your character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower?
Ice cream: vanilla, color: olive green or light blue, song: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band ;), flower: daisy.
9.) Who does your character trust?
Right now, he trusts his parents, Fiona, Noah, Ethan, and Owain.
10.) Can you define a turning point in your character’s life? Multiples are acceptable.
Not yet, but there are two in his near future: when he goes to the ball with Kat and they get to know one another/start dating, and when he gets his job offer and starts properly believing in his dreams.
11.) Is there an animal you equate with your character?
His patronus is a cat. For reasons that should be way too obvious.
12.) How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email?
He’s a wizard so this doesn’t really apply? Though he does have a good grasp of muggle technology and stuff for someone raised entirely magically.
13.) What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?
Benji sleeps like a rock, on his side. He doesn’t move at all, but he usually has at least one foot sticking out of the covers. They’re medium-messy in the mornings; he usually does pull them up to make it easier for the house-elves, but he doesn’t make his bed with a ruler or anything.
14.) How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold?
Whinges a bit and puts on a jumper/t-shirt. He mostly just adapts, doesn’t let it interfere with his life.
15.) Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl?
Somewhere in the middle, leaning towards night owl but he doesn’t stay up crazy late. Again, he’s pretty average in most aspects.
16.) Are there any blood relatives that your character is particularly close with, besides the immediate ones? Cousins, Uncles, Grandfathers, Aunts, et cetera. Are there any others that your character practically considers a blood relative?
Not particularly. His mum is an only child and his father’s sister lives a ways away and her kids are quite a bit older than Benji and Eliza. Benji’s grandparents on his dad’s side died when he was young, though he remembers them fondly. On his mum’s side, his granddad is still alive, but his grandmum died a few years ago. Again, he sees him every so often, but not much more frequently than holidays. In regards to people he would consider like family, Fiona would probably be included in that since they’ve known one another forever.
17.) What’s your character’s desk/workspace look like? Are they neat or messy?
Pretty neat, actually. Not pristine, but everything’s organized and he tidies it up to procrastinate so that helps as well. He likes to keep some sweets near where he’s working, to give himself a little boost if he gets stuck.
18.) Is your character a good cook? What’s their favorite recipe, whether they’re good or not? (Microwave mac-and-cheese applies.)
Nah, he’s naff. If he had to learn, he would probably be able to feed himself adequately, but he’s had his mum and the house-elves so he’s never bothered, because he doesn’t enjoy potions and so figures he wouldn’t like cooking either. His favourite thing to eat is chinese takeaway, his favourite thing to have made for him is a steak, and his favourite thing to make for himself is a sandwich.
19.) What’s your character’s preferred means of travel?
Apparition. It’s practical. I should mention that Benji packs for trips like I do—he wouldn’t want to forget anything, so he makes a list of everything he needs, checks it off as he goes, then includes a blank copy with his luggage for when he’s coming home.
20.) Does your character have any irrational fears?
Being disappointed or disappointing someone else.
21.) What would your character’s CUTIE MARK be?
This is a stupid question and I refuse to answer it.
22.) If your character could time travel, where would they go?
Oh god, don’t offer that power to a history nerd. Benji has an actual list of his favourite historical events—muggle and magical—to which he would travel, if someone saw fit to give him a time turner or something.
23.) Is your character superstitious?
Nah, he’s too logical for that.
24.) What might your character’s ideal romantic partner be?
Katerina Davies-Bell.
25.) Describe your character’s hands. Are they small, long, calloused, smooth, stubby?
Average-sized, somewhat calloused (not as much as a labourer or a Quidditch player but he has been working in a bookshop, lifting heavy boxes and being a bamf, for years), long fingers, generally really warm.
26.) Second day of favorites! Favorite comfort food, favorite vice, favorite outfit, favorite hot drink, favorite time of year, and favorite holiday.
Comfort food: Chinese takeaway (he loves it, okay), vice: stalking Kat, outfit: sneakers, a pair of jeans, a well-worn blue buttondown, and a grey jumper—this, basically. The watch is optional but it makes him feel classy. :3 Umm, hot drink: butterbeer or tea, time of year: autumn, holiday: Christmas.
27.) Pick two songs that describe your character at two different points of their life, and explain why you chose them.
Right now: For You I Will (Confidence) by Teddy Geiger: “Nothing tastes as sweet as what I can’t have/Like you and the way that you’re twisting your hair ‘round your finger/But tonight I’m not afraid to tell you/How I feel about you…Do I seem familiar, I’ve crossed you in hallways a thousand times/No more camouflage, I wanna be exposed/And not be afraid to fall/Oh, I’m gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have/And cannonball into the water/I’m gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have/For you, I will/You always want what you can’t have/But I, I’ve got to try” Because he’s just asked Kat to the ball, bless him, which means his time as her stalker is coming to an end. <3
Later: Sitting At Home by Hunter Parrish (pb songs wooo!): “It’s like we’re drinking in Paris/It’s like we’re kissing in Rome/It’s all the places you take me when we’re just here/Sitting at home” Because it’s him and Kat being all adorable, once they’ve returned home rather than raise a flock of gypsy children, and remembering all the places they’ve been. <3
28.) If your character’s life was a genre, what would it be?
Oh, romantic comedy. Or inspirational, if that’s a genre.
29.) How does your character smell? Do they wear perfume or cologne?
He’ll put on some aftershave if he thinks he’s going to be around Kat. He uses Old Spice, to try and be The Man Your Man Could Smell Like. Other than that, he always smells a bit like old books, from how much time he spends in the bookstore/library/around books in general.
30.) And finally: Write a letter to your character, from yourself.
Dear Benji,

You know, kid, you’re all right. Chin up. You don’t suck nearly as much as you think you do. You’re not even average, you’re pretty much a badass. Nobody snarks like you, and yet at the same time you’ve got a genuinely good heart. That’s impressive, no word of a lie. You’re really smart, way more than you give yourself credit for, and you’re totally gonna get the girl. Yeah, you are. I’m in control of your life, I know this shit. So get a bit more of an ego! I bet some Gryffindors would have some to spare. You deserve it. Four for you, Benji Coco. You go, Benji Coco.
